How can we help?

Twelve questions we would ask. If yours is not here, the address below goes to a person.

When does it launch?

No date announced. Koshac is complete enough to use daily and is not yet on the App Store or Play Store.

Sign-ups are not open yet. Email support@koshac.com and you will get one message on the day it ships, and nothing else.

What does it cost?

It is free at launch. Whether there is ever a paid tier is genuinely undecided, so we are not going to promise "free forever" and we are not going to tease a price. If that changes you will hear it in the app before it takes effect.

Does it connect to my bank?

No, and it never will without saying so loudly first. Koshac has no bank integration, no account aggregator licence and no ability to move money. It never asks for a net-banking password, a card number, a CVV or a UPI PIN.

It reads the transaction alerts your bank already sends you. That is the whole mechanism.

How does reading my bank messages work?

On Android, with your permission, the app reads incoming SMS and recognises bank and UPI transaction alerts. On iOS no app is allowed to read your messages, so instead you build a Shortcuts automation once and it forwards matching messages into the app.

Either way the parsing happens on your phone, the message text never reaches our servers, and every result waits as a draft until you approve it. The feature is off until you switch it on, per account.

Which banks does it recognise?

The account directory covers 61 banks across nine countries, 14 of them Indian, plus cash, wallet and savings, so you can name your accounts properly wherever you are.

Automatic message capture is narrower: it understands common Indian bank and UPI alert formats. If yours is not being picked up, email us the message with the amount changed and we will add the format.

Does it work without internet?

For your own records, yes, properly. Every transaction you enter is written to an encrypted database on your phone first and syncs afterwards, so you can add expenses on a flight, in a basement or on a train through a tunnel, and it catches up when there is signal.

Shared groups are the exception. Adding or editing a group expense, or recording a settlement, needs a connection, because the balances are worked out on the server so that every member sees the same number. You can still open a group offline and read the balances you were last shown.

Is my data encrypted?

The database on your phone is encrypted at rest with SQLCipher, and you can lock the app itself behind a PIN or Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint. Everything in transit uses TLS. Synced data sits in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase in Mumbai.

Inside that database we encrypt the most identifying fields a second time, in the application itself, with AES-256-GCM: your phone number, email address, display name, push tokens and group member names. The key is held by Google Cloud KMS in the same region. Finding you by phone number uses a one-way keyed hash, so the lookup works without the number sitting in an index.

Can I use it outside India?

Yes. Multi-currency with conversion is built in, and the bank directory spans nine countries. Automatic message capture is the India-specific part - everywhere else you enter transactions yourself, and the rest of the app is identical.

What happens when I get a new phone?

Sign in on the new device and it rebuilds from the server: transactions, categories, accounts, bills, budgets, groups and settings. Your old phone keeps its local copy until you sign out or uninstall.

Do you sell my data?

No. No advertising, no ad SDK, no data brokers, no behavioural analytics, no profiling, no selling. The privacy policy lists every service that touches your data and every one of them is Google infrastructure we run the app on.

How do I delete everything?

Settings, Profile, Delete Account, inside the app. It is immediate and permanent. The account deletion page sets out exactly what is removed, the one thing that is kept so other people’s group balances stay correct, and what to do if you cannot sign in.

I found a bug, or a number looks wrong.

Email us. Tell us what you expected, what you saw, and your device and OS version. If it is a wrong amount from a captured message, send the message with the digits changed - the format is what we need, not your balance.

Still stuck?

There is no support bot and no ticket queue. Email goes to the people who built the app, and a person reads every one.
